Tompkins Financial Advisors is pleased to announce the promotion of Rusdi Sumner to managing director for the central New York region. Sumner joined Tompkins Financial Advisors in June of 2016 as a financial planner. In her new role, she is responsible for establishing and executing the overall strategy for the region, overseeing all team members and ensuring that clients receive the highest level of care.
Prior to joining Tompkins, Rusdi owned and operated Avalon Homes in Ithaca for 10 years, where she oversaw a team of 25 and managed the operations of the company. She graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BS in business economics and communication and holds a MBA from the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University and Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Rusdi is known for her active involvement in the Ithaca community. She is a board member of the Ithaca Community Childcare Center, a member of the Tompkins County Estate Planning Council, and a member of the Ithaca Rotary Club. Previously, she served as treasurer of Better Housing for Tompkins County and was a member of the Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services Asset Management Committee. Additionally, Rusdi is a member of the Financial Planning Association. She resides in Ithaca with her family.
